Even More Instructors Share What They Love About Teaching!

I have had such a great time these past few weeks, talking with my team of instructors about teaching, working online and (of course) art! It’s great to see and hear so much positivity and enjoyment around learning and I think you’ll agree, challenging yourself artistically is a big part of the attraction to painting. Each of our instructors is impressive in their own right, but even more impressive is their attitude toward sharing art and their own experiences with others. Indeed, teaching online is unique, but it’s given all of us the opportunity to build a community of artists that reaches all the way around the world!

In this final installment we hear from a few more instructors! If you’re interested in learning more about being a teacher with us, or think that one of our classes may fit into your busy schedule please visit us!

– Beth Samek, Online Education Manager at Artist’s Network University

Instructor: Joe Cibere

Q: What do you love most about teaching?

A: I like paying it forward. ANU gives me a portal to communicate and explain myself and what I do. It makes me a better artist.

Q: What do you love most about your courses at ANU?

A: ANU makes global learning possible and it creates a sense of community and the ability to share.

Joe’s wild course, Waterfall Watercolor Magic: Using Alternative Watercolor Techniques, starts July 30th!

Instructor: Betsy Dillard Stroud

Q: What do you love most about teaching?
A: I have been blessed with the best teachers anyone could ask for. And, it is not only through teaching that we impart information to others. We also learn ourselves. A lot of my exercises have helped me understand the creative and painting process. Through teaching, I hope to open doors that otherwise would have been closed, and I hope to have a glimpse into the aesthetic world of other artists. Above all, I like to give back and pass on those pearls of wisdom that others have so kindly and generously given me. After all, as Shakespeare said, “A teacher influences eternity.”

Q: What do you love most about your courses at ANU?
A: I love communicating with artists from all over the world. I love the diversity, the creativity, and the growth that I see in my students. As far as my courses are concerned, I love creating courses that will help artists try something outside their usual process, something that will expand their thought and creative process. I encourage risk-taking. For as some wag said, “Those who never take risks will never find out just how far they can go.”

Betsy Dillard Stroud’s upcoming course, Painting Abstraction and Abstract Realism in Acrylics starts August 6th! She also runs a constructive Art Critique Seminar that begins August 20th!
