Once a year, the editorial teams of Pastel Journal and Watercolor Artist leave our desktops to participate in off-site brainstorm meetings. This year, our colleagues at Drawing magazine flew in from New York City to join us for two days of conversation about the three art magazines, our content, content presentation and plans for future issues.
Just as plein air work reinvigorates many landscape painters, we editors like to believe we think better outside, under the sun. From left: Beth Williams (senior editor, PJ and WCA); Brian Riley (managing editor, Drawing); Austin Williams (associate editor, Drawing); Anne Hevener (editor-in-chief, PJ); Jennifer Hoffman (art director, PJ and WCA); Jessica Canterbury (managing editor, PJ and WCA); and Kelly Kane (editor-in-chief, WCA).
Although editorial planning is constant and ongoing, our annual outing offers an opportunity to dig into reader feedback, review recent issues, and have a lively discussion about how to find, plan and deliver the very best artistic instruction and inspiration.
We’d like to thank all of our readers and subscribers for your support of the magazines, as well as everyone who participated in the recent magazine reader surveys for your opinions and feedback.
We admire your artistic passion and appreciate being a part of it!
We stepped away from our suburban Cincinnati office space to enjoy a riverside meeting spot in Northern Kentucky, looking back at a view of downtown Cincinnati.
