Juried Pastel Exhibition

Sunflowertango30010x.jpgIs it that time of year again?

The Southeastern Pastel Society will host its 2008 International Juried Exhibition, June 12-August 10, 2008, at Oglethorpe University Museum of Art, in Atlanta, Georgia. This year’s show will be juried by Bill Hosner, who will also teach a workshop. For more information, visit the society’s website.

Incidentally, Hosner was our cover artist for the February 2008 issue. Pick up the back issue to read about the challenges of painting the figure en plein air, if you’re not a subscriber.

If you’d like to see your society’s news on our blog, send us an e-mail.

    Hey Sarah,

I am very pleased to be a subscriber to the Pastel Journal blog. I am attracted to the image selection by Marsha Savage. I began blogging last year and it is a wonderful tool. I learned more about blogging from Alyson Stanfield, the Art Biz Coach who has a new book out. I have found her book quite useful. I want to share with fellow bloggers that she is giving away a free copy of her book on my blog. http://www.pocketfullofcolors.blogspot.com/

    Thanks for your dedication,

Thank you Deborah for your comment and remembering that I had posted the work in progress on WetCanvas. I have just subscribed to the new blog. How wonderful to receive my e-mail telling me the blog was up and when I looked, there was my painting from the last Southeastern Pastel Society show where it won Best in Show.

I look forward to reading about many things and seeing many works here on the new blog.

I remember the painting that illustrates this article! Marsha Savage posted it on WetCanvas and we all got to watch as she made a good painting into an excellent one. It’s a favorite of mine, and obviously others have chosen it, too. Glad to see it again…
