award of excellence at the California Art Club’s (CAC) annual Gold Medal Juried

Montague’s moody painting, Home Space, evokes a
slice of contemporary life that gracefully incorporates multiple figures and
interiors.

More than 100 painters and sculptors participated in the
annual event that attracts collectors and artists from around the state and
beyond. Other top honors went to landscape painters David Gallup and Charles
Muench
. The CAC was founded in 1909 and has boasted a roster of prominent
artists over the years, including early California plein-air painters William Wendt and Franz Bischoff—both instrumental in the founding of the club. –Bonnie Gangelhoff
