Mix neutral grays in any kind of paint by mixing complementary colors: red and green, yellow and violet, or blue and orange. if you want lighter or darker values, simply add white to tint and black to shade. Start with the basic palette of colors and mix as many gray combinations as you can. You’ll soon develop a repertoire of grays that far exceeds the limited choices a set of premixed tube colors will give you.
