Creative Cast-offs

One man’s junk may be an artist’s best resource. More than 20 years ago, I combined a revolving piano stool, a telephone wire spool, a lazy susan and some creativity into the most useful taboret I’ve ever had. Each of these items came from a lawn sale or the dump, and the whole thing cost me less than $2. So if you’re in need of a costly art tool, think creatively about combining cast-off items into the object you desire. Now, if I could just find a piano to transform into a matching easel …
