Dividing Your Sheets

Multiply your painting options by dividing your sheets. Here’s how to do it:

1. Tape your half-sheet to the board.
2. Then tape off four or five different size rectangles within that sheet.
3. Make the divisions uneven in size for the most interesting result, but don’t have any preconceived ideas of what you’re going to put in the spaces. This is very good discipline and forces you to be creative in your choice of subjects and shapes.
4. Paint the sheets quite quickly. I usually allow no more than one hour for a completed sheet of five. Avoid detail, keep them simple, have fun.
