Jackson, WY,
is known as a superb place to purchase western art, featuring everything from
images of today’s working cowboys to Zion
National Park
. But
there’s a new gallery in town that now adds an international flavor to the art
scene in this picturesque mountain resort. In April Heather James Fine Art quietly
opened its doors on Center Street. And, if the space is anything like its counterpart in Palm Desert, CA, visitors can expect a top-notch, museum-like experience. The gallery shows contemporary art, French Impressionism, and works by American and Latin American masters.

The grand opening for the Jackson gallery is set for August 21 with a must-see exhibit on the Wyeth art dynasty. The show spotlights 50 works by
N.C Wyeth, his son Andrew Wyeth, and his grandson Jamie Wyeth. An
American Dynasty: Three Generations of Wyeth is the first major Wyeth
exhibition in the West in decades. Many of the watercolors such as Knapsack from Andrew Wyeth’s
famous Helga series will be on view. Gallery owners Jim Carona and Heather Sacre say their mission is to bring diverse, world-class art to affluent communities
outside of the big gallery scenes in New York
and Los Angeles.
The Wyeth exhibit runs through September 30, and is up during Jackson’s Fall Arts Festival from September
9-19. –Bonnie Gangelhoff
