Keeping track of the various dates and deadlines associated with shows and competitions can drive any artist over the edge. But you can create a simple system for organizing these activities so you don’t miss out on valuable opportunities.
In a three-ring binder, put 12 clear (acetate or polypropylene) sheet protectors, labeled by the months of the year. Put the prospectus for any show you want to enter into the sleeve for the month the slides are due. At the beginning of each month, empty the appropriate sleeve and prepare your entries. Then move the empty sleeve to the back of the binder. If your art is accepted for a show, put the information about shipment or delivery of the art into the next appropriate month’s sleeve.
