The August issue of Southwest Art is on newsstands, and this month’s special section focuses on New Mexico. For those lovers of Santa Fe and the Land of Enchantment, the magazine offers readers stories about prominent artists such as Tammy Garcia and William Berra. Tammy is known for her multi-dimensional talents as a potter, sculptor, and studio glass artist. William is a master at capturing the many moods of New Mexico as well as scenic European locales. An array of additional images depicting the terrain of the state presents views of the picturesque places these artists call home.

This month SWA editors also spotlight animal artist Cheri Christensen in her studio with her dogs Elmo and Bentley and one of her main models, a rooster. Christensen moved from Washington to the Santa Fe area in 2000. “I never knew what ‘purple mountain majesty’ meant until I moved here,” Cheri says.
