Recently I did a favor for one of my friends, Shawn…of course I expected nothing in return from her, but she pleasantly surprised me with the gift of one of her paintings.
I was touched.
First of all, I’m a fan of Shawn’s work. I love the colors, the style, the strong theme of femininity. But aside from this physical painting itself, I was honored that she had taken the time, the materials, the effort, to create this piece and then share it. While I may have forgotten that I had done a favor for her, I’ll always have this painting to remind me of the friendship that we have.
I’m curious; share with me your stories of giving a drawing or painting to someone as a gift, or as a random act of kindness. Art is the most wonderful thing to receive.
