Tips for Finished Paintings

Probably the most important aspect of finishing a painting is not to finish it too quickly. Remember these tips when working on a finished piece:

  • Know what you are attempting to do.
  • Underdo, instead of overdo.
  • Keep your brushwork fresh.
  • Stand back every five or ten minutes to evaluate it.
  • Do not use smaller brushes too soon.
  • Approach your concept with conviction, action, evaluation, reaction, action, revaluation, and so on.
