Probably the most important aspect of finishing a painting is not to finish it too quickly. Remember these tips when working on a finished piece:
Know what you are attempting to do.
Underdo, instead of overdo.
Keep your brushwork fresh.
Stand back every five or ten minutes to evaluate it.
Do not use smaller brushes too soon.
Approach your concept with conviction, action, evaluation, reaction, action, revaluation, and so on.
