To Glaze or Not to Glaze?

To help me decide which elements to glaze, I consider a) whether they’re part of my focal area—those objects need to glow with life and color; and b) whether the colors of the objects are appropriate. For example, in Autumn Treasures (oil, 22×17) I thought the nest was an important part of the composition, but its colors are flat and dull. The colors of the leaf, on the other hand, were perfect for my glazing technique.
