Fashion photographer David Jay started working on The SCAR Project more than three years ago, when a very close friend of his was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was 29. Primarily an awareness raising campaign, this project is a series of large-scale nudes of young breast cancer survivors. Nearly 80 so far; the youngest, 18.
The SCAR Project is a powerful, beautifully disturbing look into the eyes of women struggling with a devastating disease.
October 14-17 The Openhouse Gallery will host the Internation Premier Exhibition of The SCAR Project. A red-carpet opening night event will benefit the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Foundation. Tickets are available at www.thescarproject.org.
