One to Watch: Meet Carol Ann Sherman

Every year, the Watercolor Artist staff solicits nominations from
some of the top instructors in the country for rising stars in the
watercolor community. It wasn’t difficult to find watercolor talent
among the nominations for this year’s “Ones to Watch” feature, but it
was quite a challenge to narrow the list down to only 10 names. Among
them is Carol Ann Sherman of Delray Beach, Florida. In the December issue of Watercolor Artist, she shares the inspiration behind her painting, Hold On to Your Cat (above; watercolor on YUPO, 26×20). Enjoy a sneak peek below:

Hold on to Your Cat is
a painting of an uncle long gone. When he was a child, there were no
video games, no computers, no cell phones, no microwaves, no iPhones,
iPads or iPods. Children enjoyed a simple life where they weren’t
exposed to much more than close family, running and playing in the sun,
making mud pies and having a loving pet or two. Each of my paintings
captures a vivid personality or a deep personal relationship with
someone or something. I see them as an intimate look at the subjects’
innermost emotions.”
