Mark Schwartz never met a shoe he didn’t like—or, rather, never designed a shoe he didn’t paint. The artist has worked for houses such as Balenciaga and Hermès, Christian Lacroix and Calvin Klein in shoe design, but he currently uses most of his time to paint them.
“I’ve always looked at shoes as pieces of art or sculpture,” says Schwartz. “They’re the most popular of all the fashion accessories—women adore them! It was a natural progression for me to paint them.”
