Janie began her career in art education, and was the recipient of the Martha Holden Jennings Award for excellence in teaching. A professional artist since 1991, her colored pencil works are internationally acclaimed and have won numerous awards. She is the author of The Colored Pencil Solution Book and Colored Pencil Explorations, both published by North Light Books. She currently resides and teaches classes in Green Valley, Arizona and at the Sonora Desert Art Institute.
