Pouring Luminous Light!
Many of you might remember Jean’s North Light book, Pouring Light, a 2005 North Light Book Club Main Selection. We were thrilled with her work then, and we are again now with her new DVDs from artistsnetwork.tv.
DVD: Pouring Transparent Watercolor with Jean Grastorf
Follow along in this DVD workshop as Jean shows her signature pouring technique using transparent watercolors without a brush, masking areas she wants to save as white or a light value, pouring pigments and allowing the watery colors to mingle on the surface. Jean’s pouring technique is great for loosening up and getting a lively background that you can use in your own paintings.
Creating Texture In Transparent Watercolor With Jean Grastorf
In this DVD, Jean demonstrates a wide variety of techniques for creating interesting shapes and textures with transparent watercolor, including making positive and negative shapes using a wax resist, masking, scraping painting with the edge of a credit card and more.
She’s an expert at demonstrating the use of poured watercolor to achieve lights and is well-known for the luminous effects she achieves with her technique of balancing “chaos and control.”
