Best Sellers From Our Bookstore Related Links 60 Plus Artwork
January 13, 2009
by Grace Dobush Last year, our call to artists over 60 garnered more than 600 submissions. The enthusiasm was infectious, and the art was spectacular.
This time around, more than 1,500 artists dropped their names in our proverbial hat. After evaluating the entries and fighting over favorites, we decided to choose just 10 in order to better display these wonderful artists’ work. Vibrant, active, playful, explosive, deep—an endless line of adjectives could be employed to describe the following works, but I think it’s best to see them for yourself. This year’s artists over 60 have 10 lifetimes of experience to share. One theme recurs again and again in their stories: the importance of being true to yourself. It seems as if it should be so easy; if it’s not, let these stories give you the courage to make the art you’ve always wanted to. To read more about these artists, see the March 2009 issue of The Artist’s Magazine. Here is some art that didn’t appear in the issue.
