Artists who entered the Spring Nonfloral All-Media Paint-Off challenge were free to depict anything that expresses what spring means to them—as long as it wasn't flowers. Subjects varied from lingering snow to lush, green landscapes, from bumble bees to blue gills spawning, from boats waiting to be launched to dogs waiting to go outdoors, from windmills on farms turning in the wind to quilts on clotheslines catching the breeze. What a refreshing mix—and all reminders of the many facets of this glorious season.

And what artist could deny that spring is the beginning of plein air season! That's the subject of the winning painting, 'Tis the Season (watercolor, 14x10) by artist network member pollyanna (see below). What a terrific handling of a terrific subject!

Pollyanna will recieve a $50 gift certificate for North Light books. Congratulations also go to the two other finalists in this challenge:
