May 04, 2009
A first-generation American whose parents escaped Russia to settle in Southern California, Sandra Sallin didn’t really start painting until, after trying many majors, she found a home in the art department at UCLA. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree and set up her first studio in Venice, California. “My children either had to have a fever of 101 or actively be vomiting to keep me away from painting,” she jokes, half seriously. “Eventually my husband and constant supporter built me a studio at home, which is where I paint today.” (See her light and airy Hollywood Hills studio in our September 2008 issue.) Her work is featured in public and corporate collections nationwide. The artist is represented by Koplin Del Rio Gallery in Culver City, California, and by the Gail Severn Gallery in Sun Valley, Idaho. Learn more at www.sandrasallin.com.
