This fall, Drawing magazine is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and to get the festivities started, the Drawing Magazine Blog is looking back at our 10 favorite covers. To see the full list so far, check out the entire Drawing Magazine Blog.
With this entry in our Cover Countdown we decided to cheat a little. Instead of honoring one artist, we’re honoring six: winners of past Drawing competitions whose artwork has appeared on our cover.
The drawings you see here were all submitted by our readers–a hard-working, talented group, as you can tell! Click on the individual covers for a closer look.
Winter 2006: Study of a Girl, by Casey Baugh (www.caseybaughfineart.com)
Winter 2007: Shannon, by Noel A. Carmack
Summer 2008: Rossina’s Apple, by William Rose (www.williamroseart.com)
Summer 2010: Wet Hair, by Jonathan J. Ahn (http://ahnjung.com/)
Spring 2011: The Northern Girl, by Julio Reyes (www.julioreyes.com/)
And last, Spring 2012: Autoeatro No. 2, by Beñat Iglesias Lopez (www.benatiglesias.com)
Congratulations again to all these artists, and a great thanks to you, the readers, who have submitted your work to our past competitions.
And we need you to keep it up! We don’t currently have a cover competition planned, but the deadline for our Shades of Gray open competition has been extended, and you can enter until October 7. Winning artists will have their work featured in Drawing magazine and can win as much as $1,000 in cash.
