Best of Drawing, The Waiting Game by Terry Miller

Graphite on bristol board  |  10″ x 13″ (25cm x 33cm)

Here’s what Terry Miller says about the artwork:
In my studio works I’ve tried to explore linear movement. … In this more sedate portrait of a friend’s dog, the linear thrust of the arching bridge should move the viewer’s eye into the composition and toward the main subject. The strong circles of the bicycle wheels act as a counter to that movement and, I hope, enable the viewer’s eye to stop at the point where I wanted the focus and not continue on into the hazy, faded distance.

Terry Miller’s piece The Waiting Game appeared in Strokes of Genius 4: Exploring Lines, to be published by North Light Books in 2012. Enter the competition here for your chance to appear in Strokes 5 & win other prizes!
