Tip file: Draw all the time

From Bill Harvey, in the June 1993 issue of The Artist’s Magazine:

Carry a 3×5-inch pad of drawing paper and some kind of ballpoint pen and use it. Get the idea that everything around you, everything you see, is worthy of your attention. It’s like practicing the scales. A musician can play incredibly complex compositions, but these basic exercises strengthen the muscles and impulses used to paint or perform.

I totally agree, but my weapon is charcoal! My definition of fun on any given day is going to a coffee house and sitting in the corner sipping coffee and sketching interesting people. Sometimes they know it, sometimes they don’t. Sure this can be done anywhere, but coffee houses are my favorite. The atmosphere is great, good smells, good conversation, very conducive for creativity, rain or shine!
