Kirk Richards

To read about Kirk Richards, see the April 2008 issue of The Artist’s Magazine. Here are some pieces that didn’t appear in the issue.

An Amarillo, Texas native, Kirk Richards received his first art instruction at age 7 from an elderly babysitter. He studied fine art at West Texas A&M University, but it wasn’t until he studied at Richard Lack’s atelier in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for four years that he mastered the techniques and skills of classical realism. His career took off when he returned to Amarillo with his wife, Linda, to present a one-man show. Richards’s work was so well received that the couple decided to stay, and 26 years later, Richards is still painting in the studio he converted from a garage. For more information, visit
