Steven Leahy: Raising Big Awareness with Small Art

Midway (2010; waterborne on stainless steel, 1.13×2) by Steven Leahy

“Small Efforts,” an exhibition of the works of Steven Leahy, features 18 micro-size paintings on a variety of substrates such as singled edged razor blades, for example. Midway (above) is one of the main artworks, as it and four other paintings on military dog tags represent each branch of the U.S. military. Leahy will donate the proceeds from these miniature artworks to the U.S. Wounded Soldiers Foundation, which aids wounded soldiers as they transition home.

Leahy’s work has been displayed in galleries and museums across North America. “Small Efforts” is his first solo show, and will be open through March at the SAART Gallery in Massachusetts.
