Creativity Workshop: Big City, Big Color Responses

watercolor artist, creativity workshop challenge
In the June 2010 issue of Watercolor Artist, Angela Barbalace challenged artists to take to the streets to find their next painting subjects. Now find out how readers responded to her call. The “editors’ choice” and the winner of our prize (a six-month subscription to online video workshops, plus $50 worth of North Light ?ne art books) is Stuart Givot, for his painting, S.F. Skyline (pictured below). The artist remarks of the painting process, “The painting is the result of many sketching trips all over San Francisco to make sure that all of the recognizable landmarks were in the right place. The limited palette required me to frequently mix colors in order to get what I needed. I think that brings a certain color ‘thread’ to the painting as a whole.” Congratulations to the artist and to all those who entered their work!
