Incite3: The Art of Storytelling
A hardbound showcase of the best in mixed-media expression
FINAL DEADLINE: 12 December 2014-CLOSED
This competition is now closed and judging is in progress. Winners will be notified by December 31, 2014.
Journalists tell stories of people affected by world events. Novelists tell epic tales of people in their imaginations. Musicians and poets tell stories of deep emotion. Artists, though . . . artists have the unique ability to do any of this in a single piece of art.
Mixed-media artists have a particular penchant for weaving stories into their artwork so it is with this idea in mind that North Light Books has decided to dedicate the third edition of Incite: The Best of Mixed Media to “The Art of Storytelling.”
We’re looking for the best mixed-media art that has a story to tell. Whether it’s the story behind how you came to use a specific technique, or a piece telling a personal experience, or even the story of an event shared with multitudes, we want to see your story. And because we’re looking for the best of mixed media, we’re looking for entries in a variety of categories from fiber arts to encaustic, painting to art journaling, Zentangle to collage to assemblage and more. If your art is selected you’ll be asked to tell us the story of your artwork.
All work must be submitted digitally, either online or via CD ROM/DVD. The latter must be labeled with your name and address and be accompanied by a color printout of the images. For judging purposes, images must be high quality, in RGB color mode, JPEG format, and 72dpi. All file names must be labeled as: last name, first name, entry number (should correspond to the number on the entry form), [dot] file extension type (jpeg) with no spaces, additional punctuation or special characters. (Example: Jenny.Tonia3.jpg). Disks will not be returned.
Tonia Jenny and the Mixed-Media editorial staff of North Light Books will review all submissions. Art will be selected on the basis of general quality as well as suitability for this particular edition.
Enter online or use the downloadable entry form. If entering offline, the form must be completed and submitted along with your artwork, postmarked by December 1, 2014. Keep a copy of the entry form for yourself—we may refer to it in future correspondence.
The fee is $25.00 for the first submission and $20.00 for each additional submission. If you are paying by check or money order please make them payable in U.S. funds to F+W Media, Inc. Entry fees are non-refundable.
