Oil Still Life Paintings | Harriet Shorr

In the late 1950s, Harriet Shorr applied to the Yale School of Art and Architecture with the intent of studying stage set design. On being told that field was not suitable for women, she turned her attention to painting and in 1962 earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from that same institution. Since 1970 she has exhibited her work regularly in both group and solo exhibitions, and her paintings appear in museum and corporate collections around the U.S. She’s a professor emerita at the School of Art+Design at Purchase College, State University of New York. Shorr is represented by Pelavin Gallery in New York City. Visit her website at www.harrietshorr.com.
