Kent Lovelace | Landscapes Painted in Oil on Copper

Kent Lovelace received a bachelor of fine arts degree in 1976 from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He took an apprenticeship with Landfall Press in Chicago, where he worked with such artists as Christo, Claes Oldenburg, Janet Fish and Jim Dine. A master of fine arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle followed in 1979. There Lovelace studied lithography with Jacob Lawrence. As a master lithographer, in 1979 Lovelace founded Stone Press Editions. During his final years at Stone Press, he began painting in oils on copper. He has exhibited work widely in galleries and universities throughout North America, Europe and Japan, and his work is in private, public and corporate collections throughout the world. He has conducted workshops at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle and at the Pacific Northwest Art School on Whidbey Island, north of Seattle, where he makes his home. In 2005 Lovelace built Black Sheep Studio on the island, where he works full time. For more information, visit the artist’s website (www.kentlovelace.com).
