With a bachelor of fine arts degree from Parsons the New School for Design and further study at the New York Academy of Art and the Salmagundi Art Club (both in New York City), Michael De Brito, at the age of 29, has the art world taking notice. He has received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and been awarded gold medals by the Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists and the Society of Illustrators. His work has been included in exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.
