The Pastel 100 competition starts with several thousand works in pastel and, entry by entry, our five category jurors—Doug Dawson, Ellen Eagle, Stephanie Birdsall, Aline Ordman and Debora Stewart—helped us whittle that number to 100 exceptional paintings. Congratulations to our five grand prize winners, our 25 category winners and our 70 honorable mentions—and to all the entrants who made the contest as tough to judge as ever! As Ordman, our juror for the Animal and Wildlife category, put it: “This was the hardest competition I’ve ever juried. There were so many more pastels I wished I could have chosen. All of the artists should know that if I could have chosen another painting, it might have been theirs.”
