Pastel Self-Portraits by Gaela Erwin

Gaela Erwin received her bachelor of fine arts degree in 1973 from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio, and her master of arts degree in 1983 from the University of Louisville. In 1988, she travelled to the Greek island of Samos, where she studied at the Studio Art School of the Aegean. Her work has appeared in several group and solo exhibitions, and she has received various awards and grants, including her most recent honor as a commended artist (putting her among the top seven entrants) in the National Portrait Gallery’s Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2009.
