California artist Bill Cone, whose inspiring mountain landscapes were recently featured in Pastel Journal (August 2013, “Peak Performance”)
has a solo show opening at the Studio Gallery in San Francisco this week. “Bill Cone: Recent Landscapes,” which consists of 34 pastel works on paper (mostly plein air with 2 studio pieces),
will be on view today through October 27th, with an opening reception on Sunday, October 6 and an “Artist Talk” on Thursday, October 10 from 7-8 pm

The gallery says,  “
We are delighted to present Bill Cone’s fourth solo show in the gallery!  Bill likes to focus on close-up views just as often as he features a sweeping vista in his work, always directing our gaze to the hidden beauty of our surroundings.  A longtime gallery favorite, Bill’s pieces are in high demand.  He continues his exploration of light and shadow in this show, with pieces from Sonoma and Pt. Reyes, the East Bay hills and, of course, his beloved Sierra.”
