Chickadee (watercolor, 14×10.5) by J. Ramesh
You obviously have an excellent command of the watercolor medium and how you handle color. You are getting good blending yet avoiding muddiness. Also, you make interesting and dynamic shapes around the bird.
There is an especially interesting and dynamic green shape below the bird’s breast. I like the way the darkest part of the green shape above the wing flows into a dark shape under the wing and comes out under the bird’s breast to the right. This unifies your design and sets off the bird.
Now that you’re painting on this level, you can challenge yourself to go to the next level—by creating a light source direction for your subject so that we see both light and shadow on the bird and the post.
