Telling Texture

To rough up your surface, use modeling paste alone or mixed with gel, or collage with rice paper or tissue. Use big brushes, a palette knife, sponges, pieces of cardboard or scrub brushes to apply it. Besides adding an impasto effect without the slow drying of oils, this texture process adds a continuity of lively brushstrokes across the painted surface.
