One Way to Carry Paints

I wanted to make a small watercolor kit to keep in my car, but I didn’t want to invest in another folding metal palette. Instead I purchased an inexpensive cake watercolor set at the local craft store for $3. I pried out the hard cakes of paint and then refilled the sections with my own tube paints and let them dry. Combined with a travel brush, some small sheets of paper, a small saucer for mixing paints and a film canister for holding water, this palette fits perfectly into a zippered pencil bag and makes the perfect travel set.
