Born in Pasadena, California, Douglas Atwill moved with his family to Texas as a teenager. After earning his bachelor of arts degree in English literature from the University of Texas at Austin, he worked as a copywriter—and then an art director—for an Austin ad agency. In 1969 he moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and began his career as an artist. His work has appeared in dozens of solo and group exhibitions, is featured in several books and resides in major collections, such as those of the Exxon Mobil Corporation, Merrill Lynch and the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe. The Meyer East Gallery in Santa Fe represents Atwill’s work. Visit the artist’s website at www.dougatwillstudio.com.
