Call for Artists for the 1st Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale
Any artist, no matter where they are in the development of their career, is likely to be interested in showing their work as much as possible, including at international venues. Such displays and exhibition inclusions raise an artist’s profile. Many opportunities can also come from such exposure. With the call for artists for the first Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale, oil painters have the opportunity to show their work in a juried art exhibition at the Dafen Art Museum in China in October 2018.
The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2018!
Call for Art
The 1st Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale is accepting art submissions from oil painters worldwide until May 15, 2018. The theme of the show is “Opening-up and Integration.” With the implementation of the policy of opening to the outside world, China has made strides to connect on many levels globally speaking, including through fostering the arts.
The biennial will, according to its organizers, “encourage creativity and respect individuality in the style of selecting works, and are looking forward to more innovative and excellent works.”
Paintings submitted for consideration should have been created in the last 3 years. The biennale’s committee is only accepting large-scale works; the length and width of the works should be no less than 1 meter or 3.28 feet square, excluding framing.
The biennial will be hosted at the Dafen Art Museum. Dafen is located in Shenzhen, a city leading the development of China’s cultural industry.
The artist of each selected and acquired work will receive $15, 870 including tax (RMB 100,000). The Organizing Committee of the biennial will also extend invitations to several winning artists to visit Shenzhen to attend the opening ceremony of the Dafen Biennale. Expenses for invited artists in Shenzhen will be reimbursed by the Organizing Committee.
