Matillaja Poppies in Blue Bowl (enamel on porcelain, 17-inch diameter)
Joyce Pike made her first appearance in the June 1988 issue of The Artist’s Magazine with a special report, "Direct Painting: The Spontaneous Side of Oils," which was an excerpt from her book Oil Painting: A Direct Approach (North Light Books, 1988). In subsequent issues he contributed many more articles, such as the May 1992 "Oil Paint: You Can Take It With You" (written with Lewis Webb), which gave readers helpful advice for packing gear when traveling to paint en plein air. Pike’s most recent book is the best-selling Painting Flowers with Joyce Pike (North Light Books, 1996). In addition to her sumptuous paintings on canvas, Pike has created gorgeous porcelain vases, bowls, and urns. Take a look at her work at www.joycepikefineart.com.
