I just heard some exciting news about pastel artist Cuong Ngyuen, an artist featured in the April 2011 issue of Pastel Journal (where his work graced the cover). He will be having a solo show at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, Calif., opening September 29 and running through November 11, 2012.
Ngyuen began his art training in his native Vietnam at the Academy of Art in Saigon, but he was able to move to the U.S. where he put himself through school. Although his degree at San Jose State University was in illustration and graphic design, he continued to pursue fine art.
He was the First Place Winner of the Triton Museum of Art’s 2011 Statewide Painting Competition and Exhibition, which led to this significant exhibition of works. He was also the recipient of the Pastel Journal Grand Prize Award in the 12th Pastel 100 competition in 2011.
And speaking of the Pastel 100, the deadline has been extended through September 4. Take advantage of the extra week and upcoming Labor Day Weekend to enter your best work—the result of your creative labors!—into this annual art contest, a celebration of the best in pastel!
