Bay area artist and pastel champion Duane Wakeham has a new show opening July 8 at the Peninsula Museum of Art in Belmont, Calif. The exhibition, entitled “Sharing a Way of Seeing,” presents works on loan from Bay Area private collections.
Wakeham, known best perhaps for his serene landscape paintings in pastel and oil, is renowned both as an instructor of art and as a practitioner. Bay Area curator DeWitt Cheng had this to say of the artist: “Although his works appear to capture nature objectively, leading the casual viewer to the conclusion that the artist has simply been in the right place at the right time, the transcendental images are, in fact, products of sustained pictorial analysis and synthesis.”
It’s sure to be an inspiring show. Catch it if you can!
