In the August issue of Watercolor Artist, Nancy M. Grigsby challenged readers to transform a simple beginning into a watermedia masterpiece by incorporating found objects. We thank you for your spirited responses to this unique challenge and ask you to join us in congratulating Eva Macie of Atlanta, Georgia, whose painting, Ole! (above; mixed media on paper) is the editors’ choice and the winner of our prize.
Macie remarks of her painting process: “The background is fluid watercolor and ink. It’s also a piece that has been in the “save for later” pile. The collaged photo is an enlarged printout of a photo I took of a poster wall in Spain in 1997. The rest are bits and pieces of things I had in studio and also the souvenir box from the trip. Some actual poster pieces, coins, stamps, tissue and rice paper, a tassel, etc. It was fun to revisit Spain again through this piece.”
Congratulations to our winner and all those who entered their work! For details about the next Creativity Workshop challenge, or to learn how to enter your work for a chance to win the prize, click here.
