Donald Holden’s internationally acclaimed watercolor paintings may be found in the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London; the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Starting his artistic journey as an oil painter, Holden moved to sculpture and, finally while in his early 50s, turned to watercolors. “I paint for people willing to take their time, for people who enjoy all the subtleties that don’t emerge at first glance,” says Holden. A beautiful book on his work is Donald Holden Watercolors (Ruder Finn Press Inc., 2004), with an introduction by Richard J. Boyle.
