I turned a Sears Craftsman toolbox into my “traveling studio.” The toolbox has several large compartments that hold everything I need for a day of painting and has large wheels that make traveling easy. The bottom pull-out drawer has plenty of room for my small palette, as well as bottled water and lunch; the center drawers hold all my paint tubes; and the tray inside the top compartment keeps my pencils, erasers and other small tools organized. To save space, the handle retracts, which makes the top of the toolbox a great place to hold my water jar, palette and brushes while painting on site.
Since the case stores the majority of my art supplies, I keep it next to the table in my studio. When I’m going to art class or to paint on location, I just roll out my “traveling studio” and I’ve got everything I need.
