David Leffel: Weekend With the Masters Instructor
David A. Leffel is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished representational artists today and is often referred to as a living Old Master. He has received three gold medals and one silver medal from the National Academy of Western Arts; gold medals from the Hudson Valley Art Association and Allied Artists of America; and various distinguished awards from the National Arts Club, the National Academy, and the American Artists Professional League, among others.
He is the subject of Oil Painting Secrets From a Master (Watson-Guptill Publications, New York, New York) and the author of An Artist Teaches: Reflections on the Art of Painting as well as the recently published Self-Portraits: A Visual Journey of Insight (both Bright Light Publishing, Ojai, California). He is represented by Nedra Matteucci Galleries, in Santa Fe, New Mexico; Total Arts Gallery, in Taos, New Mexico; Overland Gallery of Fine Art, in Scottsdale, Arizona; and Greenhouse Gallery of Fine Art, in San Antonio.
He has participated in numerous prestigious exhibitions including the Artists of America exhibition at the Colorado History Museum, Denver, CO; the National Academy of Western Art exhibition at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City; the Allied Artists of America exhibitions; Hudson Valley Art Association exhibitions, and National Academy of Design art exhibitions.
His work has been featured in important articles in publications such as Southwest Art, Art News, The New Mexican, Taos Magazine, American Artist, and the Chicago Sun-Times.
His works are in important collections including the collections of the Elizabeth T. Greensheilds Museum, Mr. And Mrs. G. Harvey, Mr. And Mrs. John Mellencamp, the Museum of the Southwest in Midland, TX and the Yugoslav Embassy in New York City.
David Leffel is also one of the most sought-after oil painting instructors in the country and continues to teach workshops.
