I decided at the end of last year to begin en Plein air this coming spring. In Michigan it can seem forever. This video was very informative. I love her style of painting. It was a joy to watch. One of the biggest things to take away from this course is, not getting all worked up about how fast I must work. She gives instruction and reinforces why it is so important to do value sketches and to set up the painting prior to beginning just in case the light changes, which seems pretty much inevitable in any Plein air experience. I have watched so many artist videos where the artist stresses over the fact that the light is changing, and reminds us how difficult it is to paint en Plein air because of this. It becomes intimidating to a newer artist such as myself. But, not Stephanie. She relaxes and works from her value sketch. She uses wonderful color selections and I love the ethereal quality of her trees with softened edges and a bit of sky sneaking in. Great job Stephanie! I can't wait for my sub zero temps to go away so I can get outside to paint! she also tells us which pastel brands she uses, and let's us now when she changes from a harder to softer pastel. It's informative. Terrific video. I hope I find more here taught by Stephanie.

Together with her still life one, probably the most achieved and effective pastel demo I have seen from this side of the Atlantic.

Terrific video full of tips and ideas and, of course, the work flow of someone who knows her craft. What a gorgeous location, too. I loved the frogs on the soundtrack. Thanks Stephanie.

I've watched this video several times learning something new each time. Using a harder pastel over soft was especially useful, as I use Holbeins for under painting. She has a very light touch, creating the luminosity we strive for. Excellent video for all levels.
