Applaud the fabulous artists whose works won prizes.
Congratulations to the 30 winners and 245 finalists whose dazzling paintings gave us pleasure and the jurors anxiety—so difficult was the task of choosing among such diverse and beautiful works. Every year we state that the quality of the submissions was exceptionally high, but this year it was phenomenally difficult to differentiate between good, better and best. Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of The Artist’s Magazine’s competition. A look back reveals that winning a prize often paves the way to greater fame; thus, we congratulate our 2007 winners and wish them continued success. We also commend each one of the thousands of artists who entered our contest but didn’t make it to the final round. Next year is another opportunity, another chance. And remember, too, that a contest celebrates achievement, of course, but it also reminds us that prizes pale next to the everyday joy of setting out paints and picking up a brush.
