Children’s Art Project
These greeting cards were designed by children who are patients at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. As part of the Children’s Art Project, the sale of these cards raises money for programs that help children with cancer live more normal lives. Programs made possible by the project include music and art therapy, summer camp, in-hospital classrooms, college scholarships and cancer research. In addition to cards, the project offers T-shirts, aprons, gift bags, silk scarves, ties and other items featuring the creative work of young patients. Last year proceeds from gift and card sales totaled $1.2 million. This massive fund-raising effort is made possible by thousands of volunteers. A New Take on Computer Art
Starting in January 2000 you’ll be able to decorate your computer screen with master works from The Museum of Modern Art, New York. For the first time, the museum is offering its popular appointment calendar in an electronic version that doubles as a screensaver. The calendar will include 50 images from the museum’s collection and also note the birthdays of nearly 800 modern artists throughout the year. For more information, visit the museum’s online gift shop at www.momastore.org.
