Certain objects or events can inspire a painting, like a black-green emu egg given to me as a gift; its surface is like concrete. Or perhaps a bowl or a book. Recently a piece of black-and-white tissue paper inspired a series of black-and-white paintings, which Im about to begin. Certain objects reappear in my work, like the egg, which I find to be the perfect shape. I enjoy painting the delicate, luminous shadows created on its surface, and I also love it for its symbolismlife and rebirth.
